Seaweed Forage Sunday 6 March 2022 East Lothian

Edible Seashore Foray to discover how to identify, harvest and prepare nutritious edible seaweeds. There is a wonderful feast of seaweeds off our shores and the late winter after Earrach is ‘seaweed spring’ when they are at their tastiest and most succulent.

Time: 8:30 to 12:30-13:00. (LW 0.8m 10:26) This is a really early start I know, but the low tides at the weekends are early this year and we want to make the most of the new growth seaweed at low tide.

Venue: East Lothian coast. Directions can be downloaded or will be sent after booking. Please note the location is not easily accessible by public transport this early in the day, so please advise well in advance if you need help with a car share.

Maximum group size is 12 (very occasionally up to 14). Wear warm clothes, it will be cold. Importantly wear suitable waterproof, non-slip footwear (e.g. wellies), you will be on slippery rocks and in rock pools at times. Please bring a snack with a hot drink too.

We will be outdoors and able to keep a distance from each other to avoid Covid-19 transmission. However, please bring a mask in case there are times when 2 metres cannot be observed. Please do not come if you have symptoms of Covid or have been in contact with an infected or quarantining person. If the walk has to be cancelled due to government lockdown restrictions, you will be able to transfer this ticket to a future walk or get a refund. Please read the small print!
