Getting there
I try to make as many walks as possible accessible by public transport as the best foraging is outside of the cities. If you let me know in advance I can often arrange a car share with others on a walk.
Cancellations
If you need to cancel, a full refund will be given if you cancel 14 days prior to the event less any PayPal or credit card charges. Shorter notice will result in a discretionary refund if I can rebook your place in time with someone else.
Please note that with gift voucher cancellations, only the original purchaser can be refunded. I cannot issue cash or payments in exchange for a gift voucher.
Venue and Tutor changes
Please note that the venues are not alway exact until nearer the time as it depends on the plants, the fungi and the seasons, and what is growing where. Where coronavirus restrictions on group size are in place, your tutor may change to accommodate everyone.
Your children
I love having children on my courses. They are quick learners and a love of nature inspired in them now, will be with them for life. I don’t charge for children except for events with food. If you would like to bring a child with you, please let me know. Please note however, that foraging courses are not for all children. They are at a slow place, with a lot, of talking and information to absorb and sometimes it is cold and wet. You know your child. If you think he or she would be bored or find terrain/climate/pace difficult, please don’t force them to come.
Your pets
Please don’t bring your pets – out of kindness to them and as a courtesy to the other members of the group. Sadly even the best behaved dogs get bored on a lead as the walk is at a slow pace and when many people bring their dogs it quickly becomes chaos. I have found that, whilst your dog is an excellent companion when out on your own, sadly dogs and foraging courses do not mix well so I’m afraid they are not allowed on the courses.
Your safety
Whilst I take every care in organising the events that I run with your safety and comfort in mind, any walk or course in wild terrain carries some risks. Tripping up or falling over can occur, occasional food allergies, rough terrain, falling branches… To date, no unhappy events have ever happened but by booking your ticket you accept liability and responsibility for yourself and your party in the event of accident or injury. Every tutors is a trained first aider and insured foraging teacher and a Member of the Association of Foragers. If you have any mobility challenges or limitations please let me know prior to a walk. Some specific walks for people with limited sight or mobility are organised during the year.
