Stay with Mo in Mo’s Meadow and Eat Wild for a Weekend

Tucked away in the heart of Scotland, Mo’s Meadow is more than a place — it’s an invitation to slow down, breathe deep, and reconnect with the land. As the home of the now-renowned Wildbiome Project, it has captured the imaginations of many who are curious about rewilding, resilience, and living closer to nature.

With growing interest in the Wildbiome way of life, Mo wanted to create something special — a welcoming, hands-on weekend where people could experience the joy of eating wild, learning ancestral skills, and sleeping under the stars.

Join us for a two-day immersion into wild food and ancient fire, guided by expert foragers and skills teachers. You’ll forage your own ingredients, cook meals together, and learn the ways of our Mesolithic ancestors — all while staying with Mo, right here in her meadow.

If you can’t come for both days, contact bookings@monicawilde.com to book either Saturday or Sunday.

Whether you’re curious about wild plants, ancestral cookery, or simply craving a deeper connection with the land, this is your invitation to come home to the wild.

🌿 Saturday: Forage, Feast & Settle In

The weekend begins on Saturday morning with a deep dive into the world of wild food, guided by expert forager Matthew Rooney.

Wander through hedgerows and woodlands discovering delicious wild vegetables and edible trees, while learning to identify and harvest common wild plants safely. This 2–2.5 hour foraging walk is a sensory journey — full of surprising flavours, rich folklore, and practical knowledge.

🧠 We will head to Mo’s home, gather around the identification table to label specimens, share notes, and take a closer look at the plants we’ve found — a hands-on learning session with plenty of expert insight.

🥗 You’ll then turn your foraged finds into a wholesome, shared lunch — cooked together and enjoyed in good company.

🌳 After lunch, choose your spot in Mo’s meadow and pitch your tent beneath open skies. The rest of the afternoon invites you to relax, wander, or simply soak in the stillness of the land before gathering again for a communal dinner.

🏕 Camp Under the Stars

Spend the night in Mo’s meadow, a gently rewilding space where the sky stretches wide, and the land still remembers. Bring your tent and camp on site.

🔥 Sunday: Fire & Food the Ancestral Way

Wake to birdsong and a wild breakfast that sets the tone for a day of elemental learning.

Sunday’s focus is Food & Fire — an immersive, hands-on course inspired by the ways of our Mesolithic ancestors. Guided by wild food expert Monica Wilde and Stone Age skills specialist Werner Pfeifer, you’ll explore:

🔥 Fire-making techniques — Learn how to start a fire without matches, using friction, spark, and natural tinders.

🪨 Primitive food preparation — Discover how our ancestors prepared their meals before the invention of metal tools.

🍂 Cooking over fire and underground — Help cook using earth ovens and flame, learning methods passed down through millennia.

🌿 Shared Wild Lunch — As part of the day, you’ll help prepare and enjoy a delicious, fire-cooked lunch made with seasonal ingredients — a meal rooted in tradition and shared in community.

You will need to bring:
– A sharp knife to use on wood, veggies and meat
– A bowl, plate, knife, fork and spoon
– Your own food and snacks – in case there is not enough or to your liking

🌿 A Note on Food & Diets

As part of the experience, there may be opportunities to witness elements of the process involved in catching, preparing, and cooking wild meat — offering a respectful insight into ancestral food traditions and our relationship with the animals that nourish us.

Wild meat will be served as part of the shared meals over the weekend. We understand that this may not align with everyone’s values or dietary choices.

If you follow a vegetarian or vegan diet or prefer not to take part in this aspect of the course, we fully respect that — and kindly ask that you bring along additional snacks or personal food items to ensure you feel nourished and comfortable throughout the experience.

Our aim is to hold space for learning, curiosity, and care — and to honour all choices with respect and kindness.
