A GUIDE TO MUSHROOM FORAGING

Monica ‘Mo’ Wilde takes you on a tour through Scotland’s wild larder, introducing you to many of the species you could forage and eat through the seasons of the year. She also covers approaches to foraging, safety and sustainability. In 2021, Mo lived for a year only on free wild food, eating over 300 species of plants, 87 species of mushrooms, not to mention seaweeds and wild game. Mo is the author of The Wilderness Cure (winner of the John Avery Award) and Free Food, helped found the Association of Foragers, and has been teaching foraging for the best part of 2 decades  Come to her talk with slides and a lively question and answer session.

THE WILDEBIOME PROJECT

Monica ‘Mo’ Wilde discusses the gut microbiome and health results from The Wildbiome Project – a citizen science research study on the health implications of a foraged diet. Learn about the 2023 pilot results when 24 foragers were tested while eating only wild food. Hear about the current 2025 study with over 120 participants, EatWild the first wild food nutrition app, and the exciting developments with the University of Bradford.
