Well, we could have a live roof. Or we could have a thatched roof… A live roof would blend into the woodland and hide the buildings among the tree. The thatched roofs evoke, not only the thatched roofs of some Arts and Crafts houses, but also the Iron Age history of Scotland with its many stone circles, cup stones and ancient forts. 5000 years ago, the thatched roof of the Celtic Roundhouse would have been a common feature in the area.
